Ansible Role: istioctl

Role to install (by default) istioctl on Debian/Ubuntu and EL systems. istioctl is a the CLI for Istio, an open source service mesh for Kubernetes.

Variables table:

Variable	Description
istioctl_app	Defines the app to install i.e. istioctl
istioctl_version	Defined to dynamically fetch the desired version to install. Defaults to: 1.23.0
istioctl_os	Defines os type. Used for obtaining the correct type of binaries based on OS type. Defaults to: linux
istioctl_architecture_map	Defines os architecture. Used to set the correct type of binaries based on OS System Architecture.
istioctl_dl_url	Defines URL to download the istioctl binary from.
istioctl_bin_path	Defined to dynamically set the appropriate path to store istioctl binary into. Defaults to (as generally available on any user's PATH): /usr/local/bin
istioctl_file_owner	Owner for the binary file of istioctl.
istioctl_file_group	Group for the binary file of istioctl.
istioctl_file_mode	Mode for the binary file of istioctl.

For default behaviour of role (i.e. installation of istioctl) in ansible playbooks.

For customizing behavior of role (i.e. specifying the desired istioctl version) in ansible playbooks.

  roles:
    - darkwizard242.istioctl
  vars:
    istioctl_version: 1.17.1

For customizing behavior of role (i.e. placing binary of istioctl package in different location) in ansible playbooks.

- hosts: servers
  roles:
