sa-denyhosts

Build Status

Important: is is recommended to consider fail2ban utility alternative. Use denyhosts only if you really need it. Take a look on sa-box-bootstrap for example of usage.

One of the reasons: for example, in 14.04 LTS package is no longer maintained

apt-get install denyhosts
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package denyhosts

Apparently it has been deleted, according to launchpad.

DenyHosts is a python program that automatically blocks SSH attacks by adding entries to /etc/hosts.deny. DenyHosts might also inform Linux administrators about offending hosts, attacked users and suspicious logins.
